PSA on recent fraud nationally

| February 15, 2024 1:00 AM

In light of a multitude of recent fraud events across the nation including locally, the Bonners Ferry Police Department feels that it is important to let the public know that law enforcement officers will never call you and ask for money, Andrakay Pluid, Boundary County Prosecutor announced in a press release.

“In the event you owe outstanding obligations to the court and an individual calls you, they are going to request that you bring money to the courthouse,” Pluid said. “They will not ask you to take money to Western Union or to a Coin Star machine. If you are unsure if a request is legitimate, call the law enforcement agency or the court directly. If you are contacted by someone posing as a law enforcement officer asking for money, please contact your local authorities.”
