Martha Mae Penner, 91

Martha Mae Penner, 91, of Moundridge, Kan., passed away Monday, Feb. 19, 2024, at the Moundridge Manor.

She was born on Aug. 30, 1932, in Hillsboro, Kan., the daughter of David H. and Anna (Hoeppner) Dyck.

She attended Ebenfeld School at Hillsboro and later Winton, Calif., schools.

Martha was a member of the Gospel Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in Moundridge.

She was united in marriage to Richard L. Penner on Oct. 26, 1952, in Winton, Calif. 

Martha was a devoted wife and homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Penner of Moundridge; daughters, Mary Lou (Loren) Unruh of Charlo, Mont., Jeanette (Arlin) Unruh of Hesston, and Kristine (James) Koehn of Galva; sons Galen (Cindy) Penner of Halstead, and Laurence (Berniece) Penner of Elmhurst, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Diane C. Penner; five sisters and four brothers. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024, at Gospel Mennonite Church, Moundridge. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday at Alexanderfeld Mennonite Church Cemetery, Hillsboro. Friends may call from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024, at Moundridge Funeral Home, with family present at the church from 6:30-8 p.m.
