Honesty is most important attribute of election systems
Many voters across the United States are now questioning the integrity of American elections.
Groups such as Reclaim Idaho are using this uneasiness to push a method called ranked-choice voting on Idaho voters. RCV is more complex than traditional voting. It confuses voters reducing turnout. RCV changes and delays the election counting process. It makes auditing election results very difficult if not impossible, increasing the possibility of voter fraud. The cumbersome nature of vote counting delays the reporting of election results, sometimes for days. This type of election is very costly.
The most important attribute of any election system is honesty. The results must be easily checked for accuracy and the process must be transparent. RCV needlessly complicates the process. In Idaho, the candidate with the most votes wins the election. It does not have to be 50 percent plus one. Everyone understands that and if the count is honest, people will accept the result. RCV has no place in our elections.
