Badgers fall to Timberlake at Backwoods Brawl Dual

BONNERS FERRY — Saber Blackmore (120 pounds), Gaige Johnson (152) and Taylor Dodd (285) won by pin against Tigers in the Backwoods Brawl spirit dual on Saturday, Jan. 20.

Timberlake won the dual, 57-24. 

A sophomore, Blackmore (120, 22-8) was in control throughout his match against Timberlake’s John Wingfield (120, 9-15). He led 7-1 and won by pin, getting the Badgers on the board at 6-16.   

Gaige Johnson (152, 14-14) entered the second period against Timberlake’s Carter Loutzenhiser (152, 4-14). After a back-and-forth battle, Johnson won by pin at 3:19.

Dodd (285, 22-8) finished the contest, as the freshman pinned Timberlake’s Caleb Alverson (285, 5-9) at 51 seconds. 

In exhibition matches, Sofia Brown (132, 19-3) won over Timberlake’s Shelby Garten (132, 13-5) by fall at 3:27. 

Shelby Garten won over Bonners Ferry’s Aubree Braves (132, 15-7) by fall at 52 seconds. 

Timberlake, which won three matches via forfeit and four by pin, faces Lakeland and Pocatello on Thursday at Lakeland High.

The Badgers faced Sandpoint on Wednesday for the B-Cup.
