MECHANICSVILLE, Va. — Forest Braden, a 2002 graduate of Bonners Ferry High and former one-time cross country and two-time track and field All-American at Boise State, qualified for a spot on Team USA Track and Field after winning the Champions Masters Men’s 8k in a time of 25:34.4 (5:08/mi) at the USATF Cross Country Championships held at Pole Green Park Saturday, Jan. 20.

Braden, 40, competed in the Men’s 40-plus division and handily defeated second place finisher Brian Flynn of Garden State Track Club, who finished in 25:51.3. Braden represented the Colonial Road Runners who won the 40-plus division with a total of 40 points (1-2-6-14-17).

“…I had a big crew of athletes out here cheering me on, which definitely helped,” Braden said in an interview with Dyestat.com. “When your athletes are watching what you do, you better execute what you’re telling them to do, or you’re in trouble.”
