CLUB WRESTLING: North Idaho represented well at Western States Championships
POCATELLO — Bonners Ferry’s Savannah Rickter, who is committed to Dickinson State University, placed third in folkstyle, fifth in freestyle, and third in Greco-Roman to lead all area wrestlers at the USA Western States Championships held June 27-29 at Holt Arena in Pocatello.
Shelby Garten of Timberlake was second in folkstyle, fifth in freestyle, and fourth in Greco-Roman. Tierney Prather of Potlatch was third in folkstyle and fourth in Greco-Roman.
Sandpoint’s Mackenzee Donenfeld, Bonners Ferry’s Sofia Brown, and Potlatch’s Shelby Prather also represented North Idaho and the state of Idaho at both the USA Western States Championships and the USA Western States Turf Wars, an event where state’s dual each other in a series of different wrestling styles, held June 23-25, also at Holt Arena. The girls' individual Turf Wars records were as follows: Mackenzee Donenfeld 1-5; Shelby Garten 4-5; Sofia Brown 5-1; Savannah Rickter 6-3; Tierney Prather 1-3; Shelby Prather 5-4.
