Girls Scouts of America group for 10-12 age girls, wanted
A local mom is looking to start a Girls Scouts of America group for 10-12 age girls in Bonners Ferry. There is currently no such group for girls in this age range in the community.
Susie McDonald, a local mom, is trying to get a group started for her daughter and the community.
“As a mom who is from England, I personally went through all the troops myself and had so much fun,” McDonald said. “It shaped me into the person I grew up to be. I took it further and completely the very highly sought after Duke of Edinburgh awards in all three stages. Apparently, that’s rare."
McDonald said the 10-to-12-year age range isn’t catered to greatly in Bonners Ferry for groups and activities that are not sports related.
“I’m looking for girls to come and join us for fun adventures. Where they have the opportunity to do the things the younger girls do,” she said. “They’ll have more of a say in the running of the group. Their ideas will be used. We adults will only be there for guidance but it’s their group. To take it where they’d like it to go. The sky is the limit for them.“
If anyone is interested, please either call Susie McDonald on 986-205-9805 or text her.

No time or days has been decided for the group, as participant input is wanted. A meeting place is yet to be decided. Additionally, the group may be looking for sponsors to allow each child access to a uniform, regardless of family income.
