BONNERS FERRY — A Good Grief man accused of unlawfully possessing bombs and destructive devices is scheduled for an October jury trial.

Daniel Peter Floyd, 58, of Good Grief, was arrested on April 4 in the 100 block of Addie Road.

According to court records, a witness claimed Floyd had been making the bombs at his workbench and made statements that if his issues with neighbors were not resolved, he would take “care of it himself.”

Boundary County Sheriff Office allegedly found three pipe style bombs when law enforcement searched the property. Assisted by a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms certified bomb technician tested some of the black powder and a piece of the fuse was removed and a flame was added, resulting in a violent reaction.

In court records, BCSO Detective Caleb Watts said this indicates all three suspected bombs were active and could cause damage. Additional canisters and marble-style balls were recovered at the scene, court records allege.

Floyd faces up to a $5,000 fine and five years in prison. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing on May 2 and pled not guilty on May 22.

On June 7, bail for $10,000 bond was posted. On June 13, a civil standby was issued for Floyd to remove his items from the Addie Road property.

The defense has said they will be putting in a motion to change the venue to Bonner County.
