What was perhaps the hardest fought and closest game of ball ever played in Bonners Ferry was staged at the Fairgrounds Sunday afternoon when the local team defeated Dover 2 to 1 in 11 innings.
Is there oil in Boundary County? Most people, on first thought, would say no. Geologists say the hills, valleys, and mountains of this section are not oil structures. Yet, on the presumption that oil, like gold, is "where you find it," a group of Addie men enthusiastically going ahead on what they believe will prove a 250-barrel oil well, fully expecting to strike oil at a depth of 300 feet.

Bonners Ferry Lumber Company, a division of Pack River Company, announced this week the promotion of Fay Florea from plant manager to unit manager. Russell Rosco, resident sales manager at Bonners Ferry Lumber Company, has been promoted to the position of plant manager.
Citing some confusion in the transition to the new garbage collection system, County Commission Chairman Walt Worley announced Tuesday that all of the old dump sites in the county are closed. Residents should use the new landfill on the North Hill.
Steady progress has been made in the construction of the new Boundary County Free Library building downtown, and plans are underway to move the books from the current library quarters to the new site Saturday.

Rod Benders will hold a "Cruise Main" event at 5:30 pm Friday, June 5, in downtown Bonners Ferry. Anyone who wishes to show off their classic car can participate.
A new group is forming in Bonners Ferry to protect Idaho's hunting and fishing heritage. Idaho For Wildlife is a relatively new statewide non-profit sportsman's organization aimed at preserving Idaho's wildlife.
Boundary County Sheriff's office received a $37,000 grant from Waterways Improvement Fund to continue upgrading the boat launch in Copeland. The county will provide an additional $11,000 cash, materials donated by Idaho Forest Group for resurfacing docks and labor to complete the project, which is expected to begin in July.
