BFWC update: Members place at Idaho State Folkstyle Championships

MERIDIAN — Four Bonners Ferry Wrestling Club members placed at the USA Idaho State Folkstyle, with Dalton Regehr winning the championship for fifth-sixth grade on Feb. 10.

Titan Richards pre-k-kindergarten, took fourth place, Melody Graves took sixth for Middle School girls and Blake Nichols took fifth for fifth-sixth grades. 

Colt Barras competed for the middle school boys but came up short of placing.

“The wrestlers learned a great deal. It is always a great experience to attend a tournament this big,” said Coach Corey Richards. “It helps prepare the middle school wrestlers for when they make it to  their high school state tournament. There were over 800 wrestlers attending the two day event. It ran very smoothly, with each age group having their own 2 hour block of wrestling.”

KALISPEL — Hawkin Skinner and Titan Richards won the Make a Difference tournament on Feb. 24.

Also placing in second were Melody Graves and Bella Edwards. In third place was Austin Goodnight and Blake Nichols took fourth. 

Also competing were Michael Heckmann, Finn Hinrichs,Gage Nichols, Hayden Dinning, Dexter Hinrichs and Gabriel Heckmann. Some of the wrestlers faced 32 man brackets.

MEAD — At the Big Cat Battle both Kai Fusco  and Adam Runyan fought their way to first place on Feb. 24.  

Other BFWC members placed, in third, Kendrick Runyan, Isaiah Runyan and Jackson Runyan. In fourth was Colt Barras, in fifth Dominic Runyan and Carson Schnittlinger. Carter Schnittlinger finished in sixth place. 

LIBBY — Adam Runyan and Dalton Regehr both took first at the Kootenai Klassic in Libby on March 2. 

Also placing for the club was Jackson Runyan in second and Colt Barras in third.

Wrestlers under 5, Kendrick Runyan, Titan Richards, Kenny Allen, Hawkin Skinner and Kai Fusco  wrestled in the blue and red part of the tournament and won around 30 matches between the five of them, Richards said.
