Special Olympics Northern Regionals canceled

The Bonners Ferry Special Olympics snowshoeing team was scheduled to participate in the northern regional competition March 9, unfortunately, due to the lack of snow, the event has been canceled. 

Bonners Ferry Special Olympics is always looking for new team members. Their youngest member is 12 and their oldest is 81. The athletes practice various sports year-round, including bocce ball, bowling, basketball and snowshoeing. 

One athlete on the team is practicing for the alpine (downhill) events, but with the events being canceled due to lack of snow, coaches will have to wait to see how he does against his peers.  

“We are so grateful to live in this community and for the generosity of so many individuals and families here,” assistant coach Laura Lee said about the team.
