SEASON OPENER: Badger softball fights at triple-header against Maniacs
OROFINO — 3A Bonners Ferry softball opens the season against the Orofino Maniacs of the 2A Central Idaho League in a triple header, going 0-3.
Due to weather and field conditions, the Badgers have yet to practice on their field, which is a typical start to the season for Bonners Ferry
Game 1: Orofino 22, BF 4
In Game 1 the Badgers came out to score four runs in the first inning and earned five hits, unfortunately, that was all they earned that game. The Maniacs attacked the bases and scored seven and six runs in the first two innings and won 22-4.
Ava Fredrickson caught a pop fly in midfield and fired to second base for a double play.
Taylor Sumpter struck out eight and the team's only RBI.
The Badgers struck out five times but shook it off for Game 2.

Game 2: Orofino 14, BF 4
In Game 2, the Badgers stuck with Orofino nearly matching run for run until the third inning, when the Maniacs had all three Badger batters out before they hit first base. The Maniacs jumped to a 9-4 lead in the third and stayed locked on fielding. The Badgers managed eight hits, with Orofino earning four.

Game 3: Orofino 19, BF 0
On Saturday, March 9, the Badgers faced the Maniacs again. Orofino had everything going right for them, scoring a dozen runs in the third inning and winning 19-0.
However, the Badger notched nine strikeouts to the Maniacs six.
