Kootenai, First Nations and Tribes owed our thanks

I appreciated reading Emily Bonsant's thorough article about the United States and Canada finally taking steps to reduce pollution in our river caused by mines in Canada.

What I most appreciate is how, once again, our Kootenai Tribe has stepped up when no other government entity was addressing the problem.

Years ago I signed up to testify to the International Joint Commission on behalf of the Idaho Conservation League. No progress seemed to have been made.

Kudos to the Kootenai, First Nations and Tribes for leading the way.
