Gary Meddock, 75

Gary Lewis Meddock, 75, of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, passed away March 18, 2024, at the home he shared with his sister, Judy Everhart.

Gary was the middle of five children born to Bessie and Fred Meddock in Bonners on Feb. 9, 1949. Bonners Ferry was Gary's home his entire life, except for a brief move to Cusick, Wash., where he graduated from high school in 1967. 

Gary's love of books and reading began when he was in Mrs. Simon's second-grade class at North Side School. Over his lifetime he collected books of all genres, and his library was second to none. Gary was also a talented artist and a gifted writer of short stories, poems and puns. Jeopardy was his favorite game show which he excelled at. We all knew we didn't have a chance of winning when playing with Gary. 

Gary was devoted to his family and cared for his parents as their health declined. He also worked with the Senior Citizen Companion Program and was a mental health advocate. 

Gary was a quiet man whose love of family and friends was most important to him. No matter how busy our lives became we always knew Gary was there for us. 

Gary leaves behind his sisters, Judy Everhart of Bonners Ferry and Bonnie Nieman of Sandpoint; his brother, Rick Meddock (Jodi) of Spokane Valley; and sister-in-law Katie Meddock of Dallas, Ore.; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dan Meddock, brother-in-law Jerry Everhart, and maternal half-siblings, Mary Ann, Bill, Betty and Jack Cooper. 

We all love and miss you, and will cherish the memories we have forever. At Gary's request, there will be no service.
