Kootenai County fugitive nabbed in Washington state
An inmate accidently released from the Kootenai County jail last week was apprehended Tuesday in Washington state.
Daniel J. Billingsley, 46, was arrested about 2:30 p.m. on Vashon Island outside Seattle, a press release said. He was captured by the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office with assistance from the United States Marshals Service, King County Sheriff’s Office, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, Seattle Police Department, the Washington State Department of Corrections and the Idaho Department of Correction.
Billingsley is being held in the King County jail awaiting extradition, a press release said.
An internal investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the release May 20.
Billingsley was sentenced to the Idaho Department of Correction and had been transported to Kootenai County to face local Fish and Game charges.
Billingsley has a criminal history in Kootenai County dating back over 17 years which includes arrests for narcotics, burglary, robbery, fraud, battery and domestic violence, the release said.
