Rex Yates, 65

| May 30, 2024 1:00 AM

Rex D. Yates, 65, died on May 20, 2024, in Anchorage, Alaska. He was born on September 25, 1958, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, attended Troy High School, and began a lifetime of travel and adventure when he moved to Alaska soon after.

Rex is survived by his mother and father, Marvin and Viola Foust; brothers Gene Yates, Lee Yates, Luke Foust, and Matt Foust;  daughter, Jamie Von Heeder; and grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Yates, and many dear friends and loved ones.

While Rex left us too soon, he lived life to the fullest enjoying the best it had to offer. He was a foodie before there was a term for it, loved good music, traveling across the world, and enjoyed gardening, cooking, riding motorcycles, and visiting with his multitude of friends, both new and old.

Rex worked as hard as he played with over 32 years of experience working on the North Slope and in the Cook Inlet region of Alaska.  He prided himself on his work ethic, high standards, and building relationships.

Please join friends and family in a celebration of Rex's life on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Reilly's Irish Pub in Anchorage, Alaska. There will be another celebration in Bonners Ferry at a date and time to be determined.
