Hometown Holidays changes add more holiday fun
The Hometown Holidays festivities in downtown Bonners Ferry are one of the most anticipated events of the holiday season. This year, the event has undergone some big changes to provide even more holiday fun for the whole family.
The event is set for Saturday, Dec. 7 and is organized by the Bonners Ferry Chamber of Commerce.
This year, organizers hope to create a larger event with more activities for families to take part in and create an even better holiday experience for everyone.
The activities begin at 12 p.m. with a variety of things to do at Santa’s Workshop. Several businesses downtown are hosting activities such as, story time at Bonners Books, craft at the Wellness Tea Bar, face painting at Boundary Consignments, games at Froyo Mama, a treasure hunt and much more.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be arriving at the Georgia Mae Plaza by firetruck at 4 p.m. to light the tree and visit with local youth. Line Point Printing is donating free prints of kids with Santa.
Ladies on the Loose is taking place the same day, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is a good opportunity for women to mingle and spend time together, as well as supporting local businesses.
"This is an exciting project to be a part of. I'm personally so grateful to work with the community this closely. Every business owner has been so supportive. It is a real treat," said Lindsay Sutherland, chamber board secretary, about the event.
This years tree has arrived and been placed in its stand to await the lighting ceremony. It was this generously donated by Tom and Kathy Florea.
A special mailbox is available for youth to mail letters to Santa. If a physical address is included, the sender may get a letter back.
Chamber officials said they are thankful for all businesses willing to sponsor these activities.
