Extended care vibrant activities at BCH
Boundary Community Hospital Extended Care Facility is celebrating the success of its vibrant and engaging activities program designed to enhance the quality of life for its residents.
Under the expert guidance of activity coordinator Robin Owens, LPN, the facility has implemented a variety of activities that cater to the diverse interests and needs of its residents.
“Our goal is to create a welcoming and stimulating environment where our residents feel valued and connected,” Danielle Larsson, Community Relations and Marketing director said. “We strive to provide a range of activities that not only entertain but also promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical well-being.”
From fishing trips and gardening to music therapy and family-style meals, the extended care facility offers a wide array of activities designed to foster a sense of community and belonging. The facility’s commitment to inclusivity ensures that all residents, regardless of their abilities, can participate in meaningful activities.
“One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is witnessing the joy and satisfaction that our residents experience through our activities,” Owens said. “It’s heartwarming to see them engage with one another, share their stories, and create lasting memories.”
During the pandemic, outside visitors were so restricted that BCH is now working to rebuild its volunteer program, but officials are actively working to get more community engagement. Groups come in to sing and play piano, bake bread, and provide Sunday service. We include resident’s family members in our celebrations of holidays and have multiple meals they are invited to along with our annual Easter egg hunt. Individuals interested in volunteering can contact the facility directly to learn more about the opportunities available. Contact Robin Owens at 208-267-4847.
