PREP VOLLEYBALL: Lady Badgers take down St. Maries

ST. MARIES — In a tri-match at St. Maries High, the visiting Badgers defeated the Lady Lumberjacks in straight sets in their first match of the day (25-10, 25-11, 25-16) and fell to the 5A Lady Bears in a five-set thriller in their second (26-24, 25-22, 22-25, 23-25, 14-16).

Against St. Maries, senior Helene Rae posted 17 kills, sophomore Taren Bateman 15 for Bonners Ferry. Rae, Bateman and senior Ellie Falck all registered six aces; Falck also added 26 assists. On defense, Bateman (12) and Falck (8) combined for 20 digs.

Against Moscow, Bateman led the way with 25 kills while Rae added 22 and four aces. Falck headed the offense with 45 of the Lady Badgers' 49 assists. On defense, junior Adleemae Robles had four total blocks. Bonners Ferry had 85 total digs in the match, 18 from Falck, 17 from Rae, 14 from Bateman, 13 from senior Kimberly Lucas, 12 from senior Alison Williams, six from Robles, and five from sophomore Makenna Sandel.

KELLOGG — At Kellogg High, the visiting Badgers battled back, but ultimately fell in four sets (23-25, 23-25, 25-18, 24-26) to the host Lady Wildcats.

Stats were not immediately available and may be reported on at a later date.

Bonners Ferry (9-8) hosts Timberlake today in the first of two Intermountain League matches between the only two teams in the league in volleyball.
