Keep it simple, reject Proposition 1

| October 17, 2024 1:00 AM

Idaho currently has an election system which is simple, and everyone can understand.

Each political party holds a primary election where the members choose their candidates to run for various public offices in the general election. The candidate who gets the most votes wins that party’s nomination.

The winners of the various primaries then run in the general election and the candidate with the most votes wins the election.

In both the primary and general elections, results can be easily audited for errors.

Also, anyone can run for office whether or not they are members of a political party.

Prop 1 does away with this simple system and replaces it with a cumbersome and very expensive ranked choice voting system which is nearly impossible to audit.

Keep it simple, reject Prop 1.
