COLLEGE NOTEBOOK: Shumaker runs new 5,000-meter personal best at home invitational
Abigail Shumaker, Lewis-Clark State College Cross Country
Abigail, a 2020 Bonners Ferry High graduate, ran to a new 5,000-meter personal best of 18 minutes and 44 seconds at the Lady Warriors' home invitational this past weekend. Abigail finished 58th out of 92 runners among a field that contained just nine teams, seven of which were NCAA Division I. She was the third scoring runner for Lewis-Clark State, which heads to the Blazing Tiger Classic at Doane University this upcoming Saturday.
Camille Ussher, Lewis-Clark State College Cross Country
Camille, a 2022 Bonners Ferry High graduate, also posted a new 5,000-meter personal best at LC State's home invitational, running to a time of 18 minutes and 59 seconds and finishing 64th out of 92 runners and fifth overall for the Lady Warriors, which finished eighth as a team.
Connor Alexander, Lewis-Clark State College Cross Country
A 2022 graduate of Bonners Ferry High, Connor finished 57th out of 85 runners for the Warriors, which placed fifth out of eight scoring teams, with an 8,000-meter time of 26 minutes and nine seconds. Connor was seventh overall for Lewis-Clark's men, which are ranked ninth in the country and are idle until the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships, which are set to be held Nov. 8 in Portland, Ore.
Emma Lucas, Big Bend CC Volleyball
Playing against Sandpoint's Aubree Lane, Emma, a 2023 Bonners Ferry High graduate, registered 46 assists (second best of career) nine digs, two aces, and tied her season-high of four blocks in a five-set win over Spokane. Big Bend (10-13) which traveled to Columbia Basin this Wednesday.
Avery Bayer, Idaho State Golf
Avery, a 2024 graduate of Bonners Ferry High, finished off the fall golf season by placing 49th out of 66 golfers at the Portland State Invitational held Oct. 14-15 at the Columbia Edgewater Country Club. Avery shot a 16-over-par across two rounds (81-79) and carded three birdies and 17 pars for the Bengals, which placed 10th overall as a team.
Jerzie Bair, College of Idaho Volleyball
A 2019 graduate of Bonners Ferry High, Jerzie recorded three kills, three digs and four blocks in the Lady Yotes' recent 3-0 win over Corban this past Saturday. Jerzie has now racked up 36 kills, 16 digs, and 33 total blocks for the College of Idaho, which is 13-10 and travels to Northwest University on Friday.
