A privilege & a responsibility

From candidates to local option taxes to levies, there is no shortage of important races and issues on the general election ballot.

On Nov. 5, voters throughout Boundary County are heading into the polls to vote on a number of races, including president and congressional, state and county as well as a pair of measures by the Boundary County School District, including a measure to fund construction of a replacement of Valley View Elementary.

To help voters decide how to fill out their ballot in the upcoming elections, the Bonners Ferry Herald asked candidates in contested county and legislative district races to participate in our 2024 General Election Voter Guide.

We posed the same questions to candidates in each race and we asked them to answer each question in no more than 100 words. Within these pages, you will find the unfiltered, unedited responses we received. All candidates were invited to participate.

Go to the polls on Nov. 5 to vote in person or vote by absentee ballot. Voters can register online and request an absentee ballot at VoteIdaho.gov. 

The deadline to register to vote online is 24 days before an election. You may also register when you vote in person at early voting or on Election Day.

To register to vote, residents must provide photo identification and proof of their address. Photo identification can include an Idaho driver’s license, passports, military cards, concealed carry permits, and tribal cards. Address identification can include a mortgage statement, lease agreement, bank statement, or power bill.
