PREP SOCCER: Bonners Ferry boys grab a win in state playoffs

POST FALLS —  In the opening round of the 4A state playoffs, the No. 6 Badgers fell just short of the No. 3 Timberwolves at The Real Life Fields. Sophomore Cardon Pluid was busy in goal, recording eight saves for Bonners Ferry.

POST FALLS — At The Real Life Fields, No. 6 Bonners Ferry rebounded in the 4A consolation semifinals as seniors Nikita Rawson and Riser Hanson scored one goal apiece, senior Eli Blackmore two goals for the Badgers in their three-goal win over the No. 7 Beavers.

Rawson had two assists, Blackmore one, and sophomore Cardon Pluid grabbed two saves in goal.

Sun Valley Community 2, Bonners Ferry 1

POST FALLS — In the 4A consolation championship at The Real Life Fields, No. 6 Bonners Ferry fell just shy of the No. 4 Cutthroats, which are known for their dominance on the boys soccer scene in past years.

The Badgers' goal was scored by senior Eli Blackmore and assisted by Nikita Rawson during the 12th minute. Sun Valley then responded with a first and second half goal from sophomore Tommy Hovey and senior Zeppelin Pilaro to take the win.

OVERALL

Bonners Ferry officially finished the season with a 14-7-1 record. They were 10-2 in the 4A Intermountain League and finished an impressive second in the regular season standings and in the district tournament.

Rawson compiled an impressive 38 goals on the year while Blackmore added 29. Hanson and junior Logan Archibald had four goals each, freshman Gabe Littrell and sophomore Trevor Festini three each for Bonners Ferry.

In the assists column, Blackmore tallied 13, Rawson 12, Hanson nine, Archibald eight, and junior Lincoln Hymas six for the Badgers. Across 19 games played, sophomore Cardon Pluid had 86 saves in between the posts for an average of 4.5 saves per match.
