ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Beckle and Thomson, cross country

Bonners Ferry High School cross country runners Sydney Beckle and Micah Thomson have been named Athlete of the Week. Both are team captains.
Sydney Beckle, a senior, has shown true grit and determination as she is coming back from an accident this summer that left her with third- degree burns on the back of her leg.
At the Libby Invite last weekend, she bested her time from last year despite just recently being able to train. Beckle has qualified for the state competition each of the past three years.
Thomson completed the 5K race with a time of 19:01. He is one of the team captains due to his hard work and positive attitude. He has returned after a foot injury last season, which did not allow him to compete at districts.
Both athletes show grit, determination and positive leadership.
