PREP SOCCER: Boys steamroll Tigers, Girls 1-2

Boys 

SPIRIT LAKE — Badger boys soccer steamrolled the Timberlake Tigers (0-2-1), scoring nine goals in the first half and fresh off a victory over the Orofino Maniacs.  

Nikita Rawson scored four goals, Eli Blackmore had a hat trick and Sam Genys scored two goals for the Badgers. 

The Badgers are 3-0 and are ranked first in the 4A-3A Intermountain and Central Idaho League in the third week of the season. 

Bonners is 2-0 in league, holding both Timberlake and Orofino scoreless.  

The Badgers will hit the road and play the Grangeville Bulldogs (0-1) on Friday, Sept. 6. The Bulldogs tied Timberlake 2-2 in their match on August 27.

Bonners 5, Orofino 0 

OROFINO — The Badgers scored four goals in the second half and cemented an uncontested victory over the Orofino Maniacs (0-1). 

Riser Hanson scored the first goal for the Badger on a penalty kick in the first half. 

After half time, Lincoln Hymas and Nikita Rawson each added a goal and Eli Blackmore added two more giving the Badgers a 5-0 victory. 

Bonners Ferry head coach Paul Bonnell said the Maniacs held a strong defensive stance in the first half, but in the second half the Badgers found their own offense.

SPIRIT LAKE — Seniors Lucy Simpson and Paige McConkey recorded hat tricks for the Tigers (3-1) in an Intermountain League win over the Badgers (1-2) at Timberlake High. 

Senior Hadassah Davis scored two goals and sophomore Aurora Lippard had two goals for Timberlake (3-1, 2-1 IML), which travels to Priest River on Thursday. 

The Badgers play at Grangeville (0-2) on Friday, Sept. 6. 

The Bulldogs also lost 10-0 to the second league ranked Tigers.  

Priest River, Bonners and Grangeville are tied for fourth in league with an 0-1 IML-CIL record.
