PREP: Volleyball sinks Bulldogs, Beckle and Thomson top Badgers at Libby

Volleyball sinks Bulldogs in 3-2 non-league battle 

BONNERS FERRY — The host Lady Badgers took the Lady Bulldogs to five sets and clinched a 3-2 victory (25-22, 13-25, 17-25, 25-20, 12-15) in a non-league 5A/4A battle at Bonners Ferry High School on Friday. 

Senior outside hitter, Helene Rae led the Badgers in kills with 18, followed by sophomore outside hitter Taren Bateman with 12. Rae also led the Badgers with 24 serve receptions.  

Seniors Rylie Kimball and Rae Bonners in serving aces with eight each. Kimball added three blocks, with two being assisted by Bateman and Ellie Falck.  

Bateman led the team in digs with 23, followed by Rae with 14.  

Falck, a senior setter, earned 33 assists in the Badger 3-2 victory over 5A Sandpoint.  

The Bagers are 1-1 and play Lincoln County in Eureka, Mont.,  on Sept. 10. 


Beckle and Thomson, top runners for BF at Libby  

LIBBY, Mont. — Sydney Beckle and Micah Thomson lead the seventh and 14th placed Badger cross country teams at the Libby Invite on Friday, Aug. 30.  

“This past weekend, 17 Badgers competed in the Libby Cross Country Invitational meet in Montana with all of our returning runners beating their times from last year on a difficult course,” Bonners Ferry head coach Lyndsay Hart said. 

Beckle, a senior and XC veteran, finished with a time of 21:54.39, finishing in 23rd as an individual and leading the Badger girls to seventh place.  

Thomson, a junior and one of the Badgers’ top runners, finished with a time of 19:01.17 and took 60th place, leading the Badgers as a team to a 14th place finish.  

Bonners Ferry is set to race at the Timberlake Farragut Invite at Farragut State Park on Saturday, Sept. 7.  

Badger cross country is hosting the team’s annual car wash and bake sale on Friday, Sept. 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the Boundary County Middle School.
