Democrat candidates win hearts and minds at fundraiser
BONNERS FERRY — “It was a great evening at the Pearl Theater in Bonners Ferry. We had lively conversations, a good time community-building, feasting on a variety of chilis, and fundraising for three amazing Democrat candidates this past Friday, September 6,” said its local host Nancy Wycoff with the Boundary County Democratic Central Committee.
“The three Idaho District I candidates — Kaylee Peterson, Karen Matthee, and Kathryn Larson — were featured guests and speakers, and will be on the General Election ballot this November 5. Each brings life-long experience, expertise and enthusiasm to learn what’s important to you, and to serve you and your community,” said Bonner County Democratic Central Committee Chairwoman Linda Larson.
The Idaho District I candidate Kaylee Peterson for Congress is running for the U.S. House of Representatives.
“I come from a sixth-generation farming family, and I still live on that land,” Peterson said. “We all deserve better government, better work and a better life. Hard-working Idahoans want to be heard and need a trusted and accountable representative in Congress who prioritizes their state over a career in politics. I am ready to start by bringing federal funding back to Idaho people, small businesses and rural communities with a reasoned, bipartisan approach to leadership.”
Wanting to earn your vote for the Idaho House of Representative Seat 1A is Karen Matthee.
“I'm a vocal supporter of Idaho families, and have been talking to Democrats, Republicans and unaffiliated voters in your communities because most of us are in the middle,” Matthee said. “Having enjoyed a long journalism career, I’m detail-oriented, driven to seek the truth, and will work to deliver accountable, realistic solutions that represent you. I urge voters to ask all candidates difficult questions on where they stand on issues important to you, including Proposition 1.”
Kathryn Larson is the Democratic candidate for Idaho House of Representative Seat 1B.
Larson, an experienced strategic and creative problem-solver and advisor to national businesses.
“In Idaho, if a legislator gets a bad conservative rating, it’s tough to get elected,” Larson said. “The Idaho Freedom Foundation controls the conservative rating system. Their donors have an agenda for our state. Do we want our elected officials to fight for one statewide agenda … set in Boise? Or, do we want them focused on our needs in District 1? I am free to represent you because I don’t answer to the IFF.”
“It’s a special treat to have these strongly qualified and passionate candidates running for elected offices in the same year,” she said. “Each has been traveling throughout rural areas of our counties and state on a daily basis. Their time is well-rewarded whenever they meet voters, hear what is top of their minds, and discuss solutions.”
