Storm knocks out power for much of county

| September 26, 2024 9:35 AM

BONNERS FERRY — Due to a widespread power outage in Boundary County, all county administrative services are unavailable and the Courthouse will be closed, Boundary County officials said.

All Boundary County emergency services (fire, police, emergency medical) and 9-1-1 Dispatch are operating normally.

The main county landfill will remain open, but the transfer stations is closed today.

Power lines are down across the county and Northern Lights (NLI) and the city of Bonners Ferry have been making local repairs. However, both systems rely on the Bonneville Power Administration regional transmission circuit that serves our area, which was damaged and must also be repaired before NLI and city power can be restored, county officials said.

Gas stations do not have power and cannot provide service.  The nearest gas station that has power is in Samuels.

Residents with oxygen collection devices who cannot get oxygen or need assistance with their oxygen supply can call Sheriff’s Dispatch at 208-267-3151, extension 0 to request assistance.
