Living Voice announces 'Within the Silence’ performance
A free live performance of “Within the Silence” by Living Voices is being presented by the Boundary County Human Rights Task Force, co-sponsored by the Idaho Humanities Council, on Friday, April 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the Pearl Theater in Bonners Ferry.
Living Voices is a theater company that brings life to history by creating a unique multi-media interactive experience. Using a historical perspective based on real people and events, a live actor is synchronized with archival film and photos, creating a unique interactive dynamic performance.
“Within the Silence” was developed in partnership with the Wing Luke Museum of the Asian American Experience. It tells a story of a young, incarcerated citizen, one of the thousands of innocent Japanese Americans who were imprisoned in concentration camps in the United States during World War II.
Living Voices officials said the story is one that shares personal heartache and struggles but also one of empowerment, resilience, courage and hope.
“Learning from our past and understanding the humanity of people is a way for history to not repeat itself,” they said.
The recommended audience for the program is fourth graders through adults.
