BOUNDARY COUNTY — One person was killed and another injured in a fiery three-car accident in the 495000 block of U.S. 95 late Monday morning.

Local police confirmed one male was killed and another person was airlifted to the hospital in unknown condition. Others were potentially injured.

Idaho State Police has yet to determine which vehicle was responsible for the crash and what the positioning of the vehicles were on the highway.

Police, fire crews and emergency medical services responded to an 11:57 a.m. call that passengers may be stuck inside burning cars that had collided.

A Life Flight helicopter arrived just before 1 p.m. to recover one of the injured passengers in critical condition.

Traffic resumed at about 1:30 p.m. Both lanes have been reopened.

Responding emergency crews included South Boundary Fire, North Bench Fire, Paradise Valley Fire, Bonners Ferry Police, Boundary County Sheriff's Office, Idaho State Police, Boundary Ambulance, and Idaho Transportation Department.

Traffic had stalled out for over two miles on U.S. 95 as first responders arrived at the scene.

More updates to come.
