BONNERS FERRY – The Bonners Ferry Badgers girls (12-8) won a thriller on Senior Night at the Badger Den Jan. 30 against the Lakeside Knights (11-7).

Both teams had stellar offensive production. Lakeside hit 13 3-pointers, including five from Kyleigh Wolfe, who finished the game with 39 points.  Bonners Ferry senior Sydney Hinthorn finished with a double-double, scoring 22 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Taren Bateman scored 22 points for the Badgers in her first game back since sustaining a leg injury on Jan. 4.

Lake City set the tone early, jumping out to a 9-2 lead in the first three minutes of the game. Wolfe hit a 3-pointer as time expired to end both the first and second quarters, and the game was knotted at 42-42 to end the first half.

The Badgers took a 76-66 lead with under two minutes left in the game, but Lake City scored eight points unanswered and had a shot at a game-winning 3-pointer with less than 15 seconds remaining in the game. The shot rimmed out, Bonners Ferry collected the rebound, and Makenna Baisden hit two clutch free throws late in the game to secure the three-point victory for the Badgers.
