LOCAL NOTES: Hall coaches Wolverines to most dual wins since 2018-2019 season
Adam Hall, Utah Valley University Head Wrestling Coach
A 2006 graduate of Bonners Ferry High, Adam, in his first-year as the Wolverines' head coach, is turning a new leaf in the program. Since last reported on in the Daily Bee, Utah Valley defeated California Baptist (23-14) on Wednesday, Jan. 4, North Dakota State (24-19) on Saturday, Feb. 1, and Air Force (24-15) on Friday, Feb. 7 — their first win over the Falcons since 2017. They also dropped a handful of close contests to Missouri (18-16), Wyoming (25-10), South Dakota State (21-16) and West Virginia (26-12); all of the aforementioned are ranked top 25 in the nation or are receiving votes in the latest NWCA Division I National Coaches Poll. Throughout the last six weeks, Hall has coached Terrell Barraclough (Kaysville, Utah), who formerly competed at Penn State, to a No. 1 ranking in the nation ay 165 pounds. Barraclough has received two Big 12 Wrestler of the Week under Hall's leadership and is the first Wolverine to do it since Tanner Orndorff accomplished the feat back in 2018-2019. The 2018-2019 season also happens to be the last time Utah Valley had 10 dual wins in a season. Hall has coached the Wolverines to a 7-9 regular season record this year — the most wins since that 10-win season six years ago. Hall and his Wolverines will look to continue to excel at the 2025 Big 12 Championships set to be held Saturday, Mar. 8, and Sunday, Mar. 9, at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla.
