PREP WRESTLING: Dodd, Therrien perfect at River City Duals

BOYS

POST FALLS — Bonners Ferry's Taylor Dodd was a perfect 6-0 as the Badgers went 1-5 at the River City Duals held this past Friday and Saturday at Post Falls High.

Dodd (285) won all five of his contested matches by pin and picked up another by forfeit in what was a impressive showing for the heavyweight. Stryder Liermann (138) and Gaige Johnson (165) also wrestled to 5-1 records on the weekend. Liermann picked up victories in an array of ways, winning two bouts by technical fall, one by major decision, one by pin, and picked up a win by forfeit. Johnson won three of his four matches by pin, the other  by a narrow 7-4 decision.

The Badgers will travel to Timberlake for the Backwoods Brawl on Saturday.

GIRLS

POST FALLS — With only five wrestlers in total, the Lady Badgers, led by a perfect 5-0 performance from Neveah Therrien (107), picked two dual wins and finished sixth out of eight teams at the River City Duals held Friday and Saturday at Post Falls High.

Bonners Ferry won their opening matchup by a score of 30-24 over Lakeland before falling to Post Falls (36-30), Thunder Ridge (59-5), which are the defending state champions. On day two, the Lady Badgers defeated Mead (30-12) before falling in the fifth-place match to Mead (36-24).

Therrien had three wins by pin, one by technical fall, and picked up a win by forfeit as she continues to excel on the mat for the Lady Badgers. Sofia Brown (138) also continues to rack up victories, winning three bouts by pin on the weekend.

The Lady Badgers return to action this Friday and Saturday at the Hellgate Girls Invitational in Missoula.
