Unauthorized burning at boat ramp creating public hazard
Unauthorized burning at the county boat ramp is causing problems and posing a safety hazard to the community, Boundary County Emergency Management officials said.
Andrew O'Neel, director and public information officer, said Boundary County maintenance workers have been cleaning up the remains of burn piles found at the public boat launch at the Deep Creek confluence with the Kootenai River.
"The piles contained broken glass and several pounds of nails, which of course do not burn and remain on the ground to pose a nuisance and a safety hazard to other users of the facility," O'Neel said. "Burning trash and piles of refuse is not permitted there or at other county public areas."
County officials ask residents tp help take good care of the county's public facilities and use available trash cans or other county refuse disposal sites for disposal of trash.
