Free seed exchange library at Boundary County Library

Through the hard work and donations and hard work of Jody McClintock, the Boundary County Library has announced a new, free seed exchange library.  

To make the seed library possible, McClintock dedicated countless hours organizing her extensive collection of seed varieties and carefully designing the donation process to ensure it would be as seamless as possible. 

McClintock also created informational pamphlets with step-by-step instructions on how to donate seeds, a donation form, and handy seed packets labeled for easy identification. 

Additionally, a 2025 seed offering index is available to help users quickly and easily locate the seeds they’re looking for. 

McClintock has donated over 1,400 seed packets to kickstart the library.  

“It’s about sharing what we have with our community and encouraging everyone to grow together,” McClintock said.   

The process for borrowing seeds is simple: users may take as many varieties as needed, but only one packet per variety. The library has limited quantities and aims to share the seeds with as many people as possible. While returning seeds at the end of the growing season is optional, donations help build the library’s inventory and ensure it continues to thrive. 

"The seed library is only as strong as its contributors," McClintock said about the importance of donations.
