100 Years Ago
A suit was started in the district court here yesterday by Albert Sundsmo to secure the return of $356 from S.E. Henry, local attorney, on the grounds that this amount was paid to Mr. Henry as attorney fees to secure the release of his wife and children from the Idaho State Sanitarium at Nampa. He alleges that the attorney practiced fraud and deception and failed to make any effort to have the Sundsmo family released.
All preliminary work preparatory to sluicing operations at the placer property of the Leonia Gold Mining Company have been completed. Actual placer mining will start this week, and a large area at the lower end of the property will be washed to bedrock, the officers of the company planning to make a clean-up the early part of July.
A. Klockmann of Spokane, the owner of several large tracts of bottom land in the Kootenai Valley was in the city yesterday, claiming 925 acres of his land known as the Colony Ranch is about completed. The land included in this area is all plowed and ready for seeding.
