Airport News for May

It has been a busy couple of months here at the Boundary County Airport with new certified pilots, first solo flights, and Northern Air being called on to fires in the east. Northern Air has two twin-engine Cessna Sky Master Airplanes that we use primarily for firefighting efforts called Air Attack. In short, Air Attack is where a pilot flies with someone certified to spot fires and act as traffic control in the air. It involves a lot of complex radios and multitasking to ensure the safety of everyone in the vicinity of the fire. To be an Air Attack pilot you must be a licensed Commercial pilot with a minimum of 1500 flight hours. To fly Air Attack in the Sky Master you must have minimum 200 flight hours in a twin engine plane as they require more experience and knowledge to fly. It is an exciting seasonal job that can be very rewarding.
