Close to 400 students, Pre-K through fifth grade, were in attendance, along with about 15 or so Veterans, our local Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Posts. Air Force TSgt Shane Williams helped fifth grade students raise the flag as the Bonners Ferry High School band played the National Anthem. Upon conclusion of the ceremony, about half of the teachers had their students walk past the Veterans in attendance and give them flags, high fives, and fist bumps, along with a cascade of “thank yous” for protecting our country. It was a heart-warming ceremony that will no doubt leave a lasting impression on both our students and Veterans!
