Firefighters respond to tank fire

At 2:59 a.m. on Aug. 26, a South Boundary Fire Protection District responded to a seven gallon propane tank that was on fire, in the middle of the road, at the intersection of Deep Creek Loop and Lions Den Road. The tank was an older model, with the words “For Cutting Only” in red lettering on the side.
It appeared that someone had opened the valve on the tank and then lit it on fire. Upon arriving, they cooled the tank down and had it under control within minutes, however, the tank may have been burning for some time.
“This is an extremely dangerous time of year to be playing with fire,” said South Boundary District Fire Chief Tony Rohrwasser.
