BONNERS FERRY — Six candidates are vying for two seats on the Boundary County School District 101 Board of Trustees. Election of Zone 1 and Zone 5 Trustees will be on Tuesday, May 21 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

110-unit storage facility proposed for Camp Nine area
A public hearing for the proposed construction of a 110-unit storage complex north of Bonners Ferry will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at Boundary County Courthouse.
Non-resident hunting licenses now on sale
It’s not quite the same as opening day for hunting, but it’s an opportunity for nonresidents to have an opening day for deer and elk in Idaho as the limited pool of 2017 tags are now on sale except the popular Sawtooth Elk Zone tags.

Survey to ask about livestock in city limits
BONNERS FERRY — The trend toward urban homesteads has been gradually growing, as people are looking to grow or raise more of their own food, even those who live within city limits. The City of Bonners Ferry Planning and Zoning Commission is currently reviewing the ordinance and seeking input from residents on the acceptance of livestock inside City limits.
'Capped' general-season, resident elk tags go on sale July 10
General season deer and elk tags go on sale July 1, but some resident elk tags in nine general seasons are sold in limited numbers known as “capped” elk zones. Tags for these nine zones will go on sale at 10 a.m. (Mountain Daylight Time) on July 10 and will be sold online, through license and tag vendors, or by phone. Fish and Game offices will be closed on July 10.

Matt Morgan, manager at Boundary Trading Co., has been appointed to a four-year term on Boundary County Planning and Zoning Commission.

The commission should not be pushed into approval because the applicant didn’t know zoning applied to him.
