The Bobcat: A graceful, stealthy and extraordinary hunter!
Graceful and stealthy is what I thought when I saw this extraordinary hunter. I noticed the bobcat 40 yards ahead walking north on the one lane tour road that overlooks Myrtle Creek and the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge ponds. He was on the west side of the narrow gravel road and looking nervously at me in my Jeep and then surprisingly he walked toward me for about 10 feet and meandered west down the steep bank bordering the creek.

River fog: The mist of early morning
Many times as an amateur photographer on a cold fall or winter evening I have seen skies that are clear and the Kootenai River shimmering in the surrounding night light and anticipate what is to come. The next morning I come out of the house to see a clear sky. As I left the house the air was thick with anticipation but when I got outside to see a clear picturesque morning I saw nothing but fog. The sky was a veil of haze, I couldn’t see the river, couldn’t see the sky, the fog has blocked my view. It was like a river of clouds.

All American Apple Pie
I just finished harvesting my apples as I am sure many if you also have. Here is an apple pie I have had much success with. Remember when making that pie crust use cold, not room temperature, butter and ice water in your ingredients. Work your crust when it is cold and it will be light and flakey. I mix mine then put it in the refrig while mixing my pie filling. Then I roll it and place it in the pie tin. Enjoy.
