Home for the Holidays 2009 Christmas celebration sponsored by The Friends of Downtown will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27. Santa Claus will be present for the lighting of the downtown Christmas tree.

A Gun Raffle fundraiser for Leon Brown will be at the Ponderay Events Center on July 13 at 4 p.m. The event will have a spaghetti feed, raffle drawing, and auction.

Checks presented to local veterans
BONNERS FERRY — The Active Heroes North Idaho presented checks to the local Disabled American Veterans Organization and the Veterans of Foreign Wars both in the amount upward of $2,000. The money was raised through fundraisers throughout the year and the national Carry the Fallen ruck march.

BCL promoting literacy around town
Thanks to a $5,000 Kindergarten Readiness grant from the Idaho Commission for Libraries, the Boundary County Library has been able to set up literacy centers in both Panhandle Laundry and Kaniksu Health Clinic.

BCSO locating juvenille who fled from transport
Law enforcement is in the downtown area of Bonners Ferry, within City Limits attempting to locate a 14 year-old juvenile male who fled from a transport vehicle in the area of Kaniksu Street approximately 10 pm last night.

Man injured in train-vehicle collision
A white 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV was traveling westbound on Samuels Road when it was struck by a train. The SUV was occupied by a 62-year-old male driver from Naples. He was taken via air ambulance to a nearby hospital.
