Spicy Peach & Avocado Salad
This is an interesting new flavor I tried on my family on Labor Day weekend. It would go well with a BBQ.

MUSKRATS: Rodents that are excellent swimmers
On a cloudy morning beside a grassy canal on the Kootenai Wildlife Refuge parallel to the Kootenai River I observed a muskrat busily swimming and inspecting the vegetation. In spite of the fact he noticed me I managed to get a few photos before he silently disappeared under the water. Although primarily nocturnal, this squeaky-voiced rodent tends to be a sociable animal and sometimes active by day.

White-Breasted Nuthatch: A dapper bird!
It was a bright sunny day a few weeks ago and I was walking the Chickadee Trail at the Kootenai Wildlife Refuge north of the district office. I had heard reports that there were white- breasted nuthatches in the tall pine trees north of the district office parking lot. Upon arrival I noticed a group of four white breasted birds in the top of the trees.

A Day in the Life: BFPD
BONNERS FERRY — Many people drive down the road, happily chatting with passengers or listening to their favorite song on the radio. A glance in the rear view mirror reveals the ominous light bar perched on top of a patrol car. Their first instinct is often to tap the brakes, glance down at the speedometer, grip the steering wheel a little tighter, and wonder if all the lights are functioning correctly on their vehicle.
