BONNERS FERRY — The Bonners Ferry Chamber of Commerce held their second Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner at the Kootenai Brewing Company on April 27. It was a successful evening with a larger than expected turnout of around 60 people.

Prescribed burns begin near Cd'A
SMELTERVILLE — The Idaho Panhandle National Forests plans to start fall prescribed burning the week of Sept. 12 in the Magee area of the Coeur d’Alene River Ranger District. Approximately 3,000 acres are on the burn list for the Upper River project. Ignitions will occur predominantly in roadless areas in the upper end of the North Fork Coeur d’Alene River. The purpose of this prescribed burn is to reduce hazardous fuels, to decrease the risk of wildfire, and to benefit wildlife by increasing the quality and quantity of browse available for big game such as elk, deer and moose.

Fred Stoos (Freddie) graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1914. In high school, he was very recognizable by his "pompadour" hair! Fresh out of school he started a small creamery business to help the local farmers.
Cease and desist order filed against wife of Bonners Ferry man accused of fraud
The Montana State Auditor’s Office has filed for a temporary order to cease and desist against the wife of a Bonners Ferry man who has been accused of securities fraud, conducting unlicensed financial transactions and exploitation of an older person.
