William Earl Kahn was born to Elmer and Lena Smith Kahn on April 6, 1939, in Fairview, Okla. He left his family unexpectedly on Jan. 27, 2014.

1. My decision to run for Sheriff is based on my commitment and desire to continue to serve the residents of Boundary County. I have been involved with law enforcement in Boundary County for over 40 years and my training and experience will be used to make a positive difference in the direction of the Sheriff’s Office. Garrett originally thought he would go to school to be an elementary physical education teacher but in talking over his options, a school counselor encouraged him to look into criminal justice. Garrett followed the suggestion and found it was a perfect fit.

Clarinda Leep, 92, passed away on April 23, 2020, finally getting relief from pain after a long struggle with spinal stenosis. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

C6 ZERO lists manufacturing location as the Fodge Pulp Mill in Bonners Ferry off of Cow Creek. Listed as their production facility since October 2021.

Opening night was a huge success for this group’s play, given that opening night was on a “snow day” from school and the roads were just plain nasty. The play opened to a near sold out crowd. Had weather conditions been better there is no doubt that it would have been standing room only.

Members of the Boundary County 4-H Beef program have been busy this spring. Four began showing off their animals March 31 in Moses Lake at the North Central Washington Junior Livestock Show. Nine ventured to the Spokane Jr. Livestock Show May 2-7 to show their heifers, prospect steers and five sold market steers.

Boundary County commissioners and Bonners Ferry and Moyie Springs city council members met in a joint meeting Monday to discuss local issues and explore possible solutions.
Coverage of fatal accident criticized
On behalf of the accident survivor and his extended family scattered throughout the country, I would like to say that we are all struck by the insensitivity and lack of tact of coverage of the accident claiming the life of Amy Farrell and injuring Kevin Dinning.
