PRIEST LAKE — The historic Little Snowy Top Lookout Tower on the Priest Lake Ranger District was destroyed by fire late afternoon Sept. 3. A member of the public reported the fire to the Northeast Washington Interagency Communications Center. The Coeur d’Alene Interagency Dispatch Center immediately dispatched firefighters to the tower by helicopter. Unfortunately, the structure was completely engulfed in flames and could not be saved. The fire did not escape the immediate area and was completely contained.
Badgers only give up one goal at state tournament, earn sportsmanship award

VA dedicates new facility
“The VA is here to stay,” Hult told the crowd of veterans who gathered to raise the flag and dedicate the new office at 130 McGhee Road in Kootenai, off Highway 200. Hult, a retired brigadier general, expressed deep gratitude for the new facility and the lives it will save as he led the hundred or so gathered in a moment of remembrance for those veterans lost. Dr. Rob Fischer, regional director for VA care, listed off several services that the primary care facility will provide. “Vaccinations, screenings, tests, exams, things of that nature.” “This represents a much more hopeful future for veterans care in North Idaho,” he said. Navy veteran Robert Hemming and the Combat Veterans Riders, a motorcycle club chartered out of Coeur d’Alene, raised the flag. The club, whose mission is “veterans riding for veterans,” participates in several charity events per year.
Two BFHS cross-country runners advance to state championships
Two Bonners Ferry High School cross-country runners qualified for the 3A state championships this weekend, with juniors Connor Alexander Camile Ussher both finishing in the top 10 in the 3A District I-II championship last week.
