Birthday fire under control for now
Management of the 628-acre Birthday Fire, burning high up in the Smith Creek drainage since Sept. 5, was turned back over to the Bonners Ferry Ranger District Tuesday morning
Heads up soccer players
Registration deadline for Parks and Rec soccer is Saturday, July 27. Boys and girls ages 4-14 are encouraged to sign up. Practice is on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. from Aug. 6 to Sept. 19 at the fairground fields. The younger kids will have a shorter season. Cost is $25.
Tip A Cop
Local police will raise money for Idaho Special Olympics Athletes during Tip-A-Cop from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 15, at Kootenai River Inn.
Super Fun at Super 1
Come join the celebration at Super 1 on Friday, June 23 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring a feast of burgers and brats. Lots of fun for the whole family, including emergency and first responder vehicles, with Life Flight touching down at 1 p.m., a bouncy house, face painting, games, and a dunk tank with surprise guests. Entertainment by Veronica and Friends of the Pearl Theater. All money will be donated for fireworks this Fourth of July.

Krider Koa McNett
Krider Koa McNett was born Aug. 27, 2017, at the Ancient Paths Birthing Center in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The son of Kramer and Heather McNett of Liberty, Idaho, he weighed 5 pounds, 11 ounces and was 19.5 inches long at birth.
Trinity Lutheran Church Christmas Schedule
The Fourth Advent Sunday Service will be held at 10 a.m. On Dec. 22, the fourth Sunday, is “Love”, our children and youth service. Christmas eve services with communion will be held on Dec. 24, and at 5 p.m. will be Christmas Eve Family Service and choir, followed by a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service with special music at 10 p.m. On Christmas Day, Dec. 25, there will be a Christmas Day service of carols and communion at 10 a.m.

Badger girls are co-IML champions
BONNERS FERRY — The Badger track team won 16 events at the Timberlake Invitational last Friday, with Bonners Ferry’s Victoria Rae winning both the shot put and discus, beating her personal record by five feet in disc, and leading the team in 3A state marks.

Varsity basketball battles for the border
The girl Badgers and the Lions of Eureka, Montana battled it out at the Battle for the Border, but the Badgers could not keep up the pace and fell behind in the fourth quarter losing 45-38. The boys beat Lincoln County in the Battle for the Border 79-63

Earth Day Event
Earth Day event: A countywide, community clean-up event is 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Volunteers are encouraged to come out and meet at the Boundary County Fairgrounds, equipped with gloves, garbage grabbers if they have them, and bright clothes. Reflective vests, safety signs and garbage bags will be provided.
