A new life for Little White Church
BONNERS FERRY — It is just a little white church. A little white church that has stood for 114 years, sheltering people, celebrating with them, mourning with them. It has seen families begin, and lives end.

'Build a Better World' Magic Show planned July 26 at fairground
The Boundary County Library will wrap up their Summer Reading program with an awesome comedy magic show for kids and families on Wednesday, July 26 at 1 p.m. at the Boundary County Fairgrounds. This year’s theme is “Build a Better World”, and features amazing comedy magic and illusion from Bonners Ferry resident, award winning illusionist and comedian, Dave the Magic Man. Don’t miss this fun and entertaining Event! Late comers will be turned into toads and rabbits!
North Bench: 40 years of service
BONNERS FERRY — David Koon was among the visitors who came by on Saturday, July 15, to the North Bench Volunteer Fire District Station 1 to help celebrate their 40th anniversary. For Koon, a former North Bench volunteer firefighter, this was coming “back to old stomping grounds.”
Taking on the ultra challenge
This past Saturday I entered my first ultra marathon at Frater Lake, Wash. It is a veteran memorial for Emory Corwine who was a special operations instructor at Fairchild Air Force Base. He was killed in a motorcycle accident July 12, 2012. So the race kicks off at 6:12 a.m. in the morning.

BONNERS FERRY — Twelve-year-old Abby Bliss is a smart girl who likes to go on adventures. While this may be safe for many children her age, it is not so for Abby, because she is autistic.

The lark of the meadows
Meadowlarks have a way to bring a song into your day. I remember as a boy listening to the buoyant, flute-like melody of the Western Meadowlark ringing out across a field in May outside my fifth grade classroom in a rural school. A song like that can brighten anyone’s day.

Zebras that fly!
Last weekend while driving to the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge I stopped by one of my favorite parks just northwest of the refuge office to see if the butterflies were getting nectar from the lilac bushes in the area. As I walked through the bright green grass in the beautiful park I noticed many butterflies flying around the beautiful purple, fragrant lilacs, almost dancing in the spring air.
