Survey to ask about livestock in city limits
BONNERS FERRY — The trend toward urban homesteads has been gradually growing, as people are looking to grow or raise more of their own food, even those who live within city limits. The City of Bonners Ferry Planning and Zoning Commission is currently reviewing the ordinance and seeking input from residents on the acceptance of livestock inside City limits.

The Boundary County Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a continuance of a public hearing at 5:30 PM Thursday, April 19, 2018 in the Courtroom, County Courthouse, to accept public comment on a Conditional Use Application, 18-042, 18-043, 18-044, 18-045 by Levi Falck DBA FALCKCO LLC and FALCKCO LLP. This hearing was tabled on 2/15/2018 in order to obtain additional information. Applications 18-042-18-045 involve establishing a Commercial Junk Yard on parcels # RP62N01E142861A, RP62N01E142876A, RP62N01E142870A, RP62N01E142841A (totaling 5.51 acres) for the purpose of providing a location for the disposal and/or storage of derelict vehicles. This request is made in conjunction with Ordinance 9B18LOV1: 15.14. Commercial/Light Industrial zone 15.14.5. Conditional Uses 15.14.5.4. Commercial junkyards The deadline for written comment and material for 18-042-18-045 is 12 PM Wednesday, April 11, 2018. Jiu-Jitsu teaches wellness in all forms
BONNERS FERRY — Master Sylvio Behring from Brazil returned to teach another seminar at the local Bonners Ferry Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu studio (BJJ). Owner and teacher, Sam Brown, invited his mentor Mastor Behring to conduct teaching seminars to each age group, children, young adult, and adult students.

Eika Willis wins BCMS National Geographic Bee
Eika Willis, an eighth grade student at Boundary County Middle School, won the school competition of the National Geographic Bee on Jan. 29, and a chance at a $50,000 college scholarship. The school Bee, at which students answered questions on geography, was the first round in the 30th annual National Geographic Bee, a geography competition designed to inspire and reward students’ curiosity about the world.

New year, healthy habits
BONNERS FERRY — The students at Bonners Ferry High School came back from winter break and participated in an event that the Idaho Drug Free Youth (IDFY) and i2i program brought to the school. Each class participated as a whole in a three-hour session of what was not only team building exercises, but exercises that encouraged the classmates to communicate.

BFHS girls split at holiday tourney
BONNERS FERRY — The Lady Badgers played the host West Valley Eagles on Wednesday, Dec. 27, at the 84-team West Valley Holiday Tournament. And while the Badgers battled to an impressive 33-30 halftime lead, they seemed to run out of gas, and lost with 63-55.
