IDFG gets to know our elk a little better
For the past several years, Idaho Fish and Game has been working on a project to get to know our elk a bit better. Efforts and methods to monitor elk populations have always been a high priority for Fish and Game, but recently, new technology has given us an opportunity to walk a mile in our elk’s “hooves” like we never have before.
H.C. Studer
H.C. Studer, 75, of Bonners Ferry, Idaho passed away March 9, 2016 at Honeysuckle House in Hayden. H.C. was born November 4, 1940 in Modesto, California to Herman and Helen (Simpson) Studer. As a child H.C. moved with his family to Coeur d’ Alene there he attended school until the eighth grade and the family moved to Worley, Idaho where he attended and graduated from High School in 1959. He then went on to the University of Idaho where he played football and earned a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science with minors in Veterinary Science and Biological Science.
Badger football wins Battle of the Border
In the season opener and the Battle of the Border, Badger Football recovered from two two receivers and changed tactics in order to beat the Lincoln County Lions 14-0.

Judge bans snowmobiles
A federal judge on Friday banned all snowmobiling within the 175,000-acre caribou recovery area in the Idaho Panhandle National Forests until the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service complies with the Endangered Species Act by determining the effect the machines have on the endangered woodland caribou.

City says treehouse must come down
If you Google "tremain albright treehouse," you'll have your choice of 20,900 websites from around the world to find out that a Bonners Ferry man will lose what is perhaps the coolest treehouse in North Idaho, if not the entire state, because the tree it sits in, while on private property, is in the wrong place.
Badgers sweep Wildcats in IML baseball

BONNERS FERRY — The Lady Badgers played the host West Valley Eagles on Wednesday, Dec. 27, at the 84-team West Valley Holiday Tournament. And while the Badgers battled to an impressive 33-30 halftime lead, they seemed to run out of gas, and lost with 63-55.
